A high-quality cover-cover is able to reliably protect the body and screen of the e-book from various external influences. It is especially important to protect the screen, as it is expensive and can cost a lot to replace. The situation is aggravated by the fact that many e-readers are equipped with screens on a glass substrate - unfortunately, quite fragile. The plastic backing, which is typical for E Ink Mobius screens, is noticeably more durable and reliable, although it, of course, does not make the screen invulnerable (not to mention the case). The Asahi protective glass, available on many ONYX BOOX models, reduces the risk of screen damage, but is still not a replacement for the cover.
